Here is what happens to your information when you use PrepTalk to find, save, and cook recipes.
Effective 27 September 20261. Who we are and what this covers
PrepTalk is operated by Lucas Weynars. This policy covers the PrepTalk iPhone app, its recipe and voice services, and this website. It explains the information we handle, why we handle it, who helps us provide the service, and how you can request deletion.
PrepTalk is designed for cooking. You can use a guest account, or sign in with email or Apple. Some features involve online processing, including recipe imports and live voice guidance.
2. Information we handle
- Account information: an account identifier, email address if you provide one, and authentication information needed to sign in. Apple may provide your name or a private relay email if you choose Sign in with Apple. Password authentication is handled by our authentication provider.
- Recipes and preferences: recipes you save or create, ingredients, steps, ratings, notes or prompts you enter, recipe source links, selected cooking preferences, and import status. Some recipes and preferences are saved on your device; recipes synced to your account are stored in the cloud.
- Photos and imported content: when you choose a recipe photo, the app extracts text from it on your device, then sends the extracted recipe text for processing. If you separately choose to add or replace a recipe image in your cloud library, that image may be uploaded. Some social imports also save a source cover image with the cloud recipe. A link import may involve fetching webpage or social-post content, and in some cases video, to extract the recipe.
- Voice and chat: when you use voice cooking or dictate, your microphone audio, recognised words, typed messages, recipe context, and responses are processed to provide the conversation. Live voice audio is sent to an AI voice service. On-device speech input may also use Apple speech-recognition services, depending on your device settings. Conversation text may be displayed in the app while you use it.
- Purchases and diagnostics: subscription entitlement, plan and purchase identifiers, voice-time usage, and technical information such as request logs, errors, device/network information and IP address needed to operate and secure the service. Payments are handled by Apple; we do not receive your full payment-card number.
The website itself has no signup form. Like most websites, its hosting provider may receive IP addresses and ordinary request information. The site also loads fonts from Google, which may receive a request from your browser.
3. How we use information
We use information to authenticate you, sync your recipes, import and organise recipes, provide voice and chat guidance, maintain subscriptions and usage limits, respond to requests, prevent misuse, troubleshoot errors, and keep the service secure. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
AI processing: Recipe text, prompts, relevant conversation, and live audio are sent to third-party AI services when you use features that need them. Some social imports may send source video for recipe extraction. Please do not submit sensitive personal information you do not want processed by these services.
5. Public recipes and images
Recipes in your account are not made public by default. If you choose Make public and share, people with the public recipe link can view that recipe's shared details. You should not include personal or confidential information in a public recipe.
Cloud recipe images are stored at publicly accessible image URLs, even when a recipe is not intentionally shared. Do not upload a photo containing personal information you would not want accessible to anyone with its image URL. Sharing an external recipe link may also reveal that link to the services needed to import it.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain account and cloud recipe data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Operational logs, backups and information held by service providers may remain for limited periods under their retention practices or where required by law. We do not intentionally keep a separate library of your raw live-voice recordings in the PrepTalk recipe database.
You can delete a signed-in account in the app through Profile → Delete account. This removes the cloud account and synced cloud data, including its recipes, ratings, import jobs and associated hosted recipe images, then signs you out. Recipes already stored on your device remain until you separately use Reset local data or remove the app and its local data. Deleting an account does not itself cancel an Apple subscription; cancel it in your Apple account settings.
You can also request deletion or ask about your data by emailing support@preptalkrecipes.com. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
7. Your choices and rights
You can decline microphone or photo access and use features that do not require them, manage permissions in iOS Settings, edit or delete your recipes in the app, disconnect ChatGPT, and request access to, correction of or deletion of your information. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. Contact us and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
PrepTalk is not intended for children to use independently. If you believe a child provided personal information to us without appropriate permission, please contact us.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date on this page and provide additional notice when required. For privacy questions, contact support@preptalkrecipes.com.
